| 1417534 | 2016-03-15 00:33:00 | At the last place I worked the smokers were given a smoking break. When we asked management if the non smokers could have a smoking break as well. "No," they said, "You are not smokers." "OK," I said, "Can we have a non smoking break?" but they still said no, commenting that they thought we were trying to be funny. We replied that we were not trying to be funny - we just thought that the non smokers should have the same rights as the smokers but, for some reason, that did not go down too well. What do you think? The same breaks for everyone or should the smokers receive special treatment for their addiction? |

At a previous work place we could se them through the window huddled up and shivering, always enjoyed that myself :) I take short breaks at my desk all day between jobs, get up and walk around to stretch a bit. No need to smoke, I just do it. |

Quite often a rest break can be referred to a 'smoke break' whether you smoke or not. Both non smokers and smokers need a rest break however. | Bobh (5192) | ||

| 1417540 | 2016-03-15 05:35:00 | A lot of smokers are taking extra breaks than the allotted morning and afternoon tea breaks and they always have. It is indeed very unfair that I should have to work to pay for their health service costs while they take a smoke break | gary67 (56) | ||

A break is a break, whatever you choose to do with it, and the same should apply to all (however, I think you'll find it is them that are paying for yours... so maybe an extra break occasionally as a way of saying 'thank you' isn't too much to ask :) ) |
