1416407 2016-02-24 00:36:00 Do you buy bottled water? Why would you do that when you can get it from the tap at a fraction of the price?

Can't understand why you would want to buy bottled water. Can't be the purity as the water from the tap is very pure.

Besides, what did you used to drink before there was bottled water? People never used to carry water with them. What has changed that people find it necessary to take a bottle of water everywhere they go? Surely it's not something that is essential?

I don't find a bottle of water a necessity. I will usually have a drink before I go out so I don't find that I need to have a drink while I'm out.

The companies that supply bottled water have created a demand where a demand never existed before. It's ridiculous!

I quite agree. Yet another reason why I would not buy bottled water.

People nowdays think tap water is so bad...all that chlorine and stuff.

Because people have no idea what bacterial infections were like back when.
Chlorine in water was one of the best things humans ever came up with - never mind drinking it, it's also the reason we can have swimming pools now.

No more chlorea, typhoid or whatever.

No I would not buy the stuff, it's $2.394per 1000 litres out of the tap. And germ free.

And I bet you a lot of the bottle companies get it out of the tap anyway.

Possibly why athletes, in a clumsy bid to dissociate themselves from the aforementioned sprogs, open their gobs, point the bottle at themselves, then squeeze.

When the stream of water gets off target, they then have to point the stream at the other dry parts of their face, then over their hair. This is an attempt to fool us into thinking that's what they intended in the first place ...

1416415 2016-02-24 02:11:00 Especially in the Wellington region, the tap water is as good as will be found anywhere, out of the pristine Hutt fed by the Eastern and Western Hutt Rivers in the catchment area.

(Incidently, no toxic algal bloom is ever ever seen in the catchment area rivers for the simple reason there is no farm effluent run-off. In the local papers toxic river algal bloom is always blamed on low water flows and high temperatures...this is BS. It is due entirely and only entirely due to farm run-off. They don't want to offend the farmers )

If these people who carry water bottles everywhere did any real exercise then may I could somewhat understand. Even in the days when I did hard tramping I would carry only a 750l water bottle. If camping up on a ridge where I knew there would be no water, then I'd fill a 2l bottle from a handy stream for the evening meal and drink, and for breakfast.
