There they were looking at the invasion of another country, quite different to a group of pseudo Maori wanting special treatment because of a distant connection to the Maori race. And if the countries in that link didn’t defend their boarders, then “problem belong them”, as they would say in New Guinea. :) Didn't we British think we could win te Maori wars, granted the numbers weren't on the side of the British. Even thought my G-Grandfather was part of the British forces, but lo and behold he came out for an entirely different reason in 1864. See our South Island Ngai Tahu tribe breaks the $billions in assets and can't look after their own whanau. (notice Te Reo dictionary not on PressF1 yet)!.
