1421287 2016-06-01 08:31:00 Thanks for that info wainuitech.I'm getting another hard drive for C so I can clone my existing Win 7 to it.Once that's done and I've installed the new drive, which hopefully will work, how do I do an upgrade using the iso?
Is it just a matter of looking for the setup exe on the disc I've burnt it to?
Thanks.

1421289 2016-06-01 08:56:00 No,I have to boot from the DVD,correct? Sorry about double post! Neil McC (178)
1421290 2016-06-01 11:12:00 No,I have to boot from the DVD,correct? Sorry about double post! No No No :) You only boot from the DVD for a fresh install.

You don't need to actually install W7 first to install W10, if you have a blank Drive, THEN boot from the DVD, when it asks for product key, enter in your W7 key, as long as its W7 sp1 key it should accept it and then carry on installing, if it refuses the key then you need to install W7 and upgrade.

To do an upgrade, you boot from your original OS, in this case Windows 7.

While is running put in the DVD, if it prompts run the setup.exe select it, if it doesn't open the DVD contents double click the setup.exe, you'll get a blue box pop up ---then simply follow on screen instructions, it will start to load up W10, as well as ask any checks for updates ( let it do it) -- Once its done its thing, it will auto reboot your computer, sit back go make a cuppa and wait till it does it's thing. It will start to install Windows 10, then go to a black screen with a round progress bar giving percentage -- by this time, second cuppa. ( and dunny stop maybe) :p

1421291 2016-06-01 21:58:00 Thanks,it's been a while since I looked at all your original posts on how to upgrade! And with each passing year............!
I'm getting 2 more hard drives so that on one I can do an upgrade from 7-10,and on the other do a clean install of 10. That way I keep my original 7 as well.

Only concern is Outlook 2003.It's set on POP now.Should I change the settings to keep messages on server? That way if I do go back to my 7 drive, the emails will still be there?
Thanks for all your help.

1421292 2016-06-04 22:02:00 Did my clone to 2 new hard drives and have Win 10 Pro now running on one of them.A few freezes and a couple of reinstalls with programs, and one update that won't,so holdng up the queue.Boots up miles quicker than 7.
Will keep if it stops the freezes!
Thanks for help here.

1421293 2016-06-04 23:37:00 The freezing - Have a look at the Task manager, wouldn't be surprised if the disk usage is at 100%. To fix that you need to go into teh notifications and disable them all. wainuitech (129)
1421294 2016-06-05 04:13:00 It seems to have stopped now, wainuitech.Updates have also run into a problem.

Also had echo sound happening,Windows said it would fix it and now I have no sound at all.It says no Audio Output Device is installed.Been googling but..........

1421295 2016-06-05 07:53:00 Right, found a setting in the NVidia panel to enable audio,so all going again with no echo! Neil McC (178)
1421296 2016-06-06 00:18:00 Well, after not being able to access the taskbar to other weird things,I've installed a clean Win10 on that drive.Nice to be back where things work on my original Win 7 drive.
Now just a case of loading all my programs onto the new OS.All my data is on other drives,so at least that helps!
