1417010 2016-03-07 05:10:00 Patriot. I guess the older we are and born in NZ, from NZ parents, perhaps more likely to be patriot. What I would call offspring from generational NZ's. Those that have been here for/near 100 or so years. My grandparents and uncles sweated for this country - forestry, early road works, building dams, soilders in WW2, vietnam and other wars. kahawai chaser (3545)

1417012 2016-03-07 19:28:00 It's an attitudes and values survey - what else would you expect?

More questions on other issues too?
Not do you hate women, and are you racist asked several ways...

I get the impression this is an ongoing survey where they ask the same basic questions every year in order to get an idea of how attitudes are changing, which presumably is why the questions aren't necessarily very topical, but generalised as in "how do you think the government is doing?". I would have thought "Do you hate women" (although I don't think it was expressed quite as bluntly as that) was a good question to see if attitudes are changing over time. The technique of asking the same question in several different ways especially if some of the answers would be yes and some no is a way of identifying respondents who are not really thinking about the questions. As far as "questions on other issues", I guess they have to draw the line somewhere or the survey would be enormous. If you were to ask 20 people "what other issues?" you'd probably get 20 different sets of responses.

Fair comment, but what it does is to cull out the recidivist respondents and time wasters. The TVNZ questionnaire is nowhere as sophisticated.
