Had you tried a car with an actual electrical system to give you a reference point, you would realise that Lucas are inherently immune to electrical problems due to the lack of electricity. A car with ultra dim lights powered by an iconograph of a glow worm makes it extremely difficult to detect that the lights have failed without amazingly delicate equipment. :devil

Those of us that have been the proud owner of a 60's era Kraut cycle (VW) shouldn't cast stones at Lucas. In fact, the VW lights were so poor, that a similar requirement to the man walking ahead with a red flag was used. Except, the VW had to be preceeded by a Lucas equipped English car with its lights on full beam and its driver muttering "don't mention the war. This caused terrible confusion as it even had to be done in daylight and was known as the "blind leading the blind".

1416968 2016-04-21 10:41:00 Eurotrash is not noted for electrical integrity. Still needs regular large infusions of dubloons. BTW, it is only in the daytime that you can tell a lucas light is on high beam by examining the switch positions. At night the dash lamps are no more use for illuminating the panel than the headlights are for lighting the road. Most english cars had at times to be preceded by some other nationality of vehicle either pushing or pulling. ;) R2x1 (4628)
1416969 2016-04-21 19:35:00 Having owned several Jap cars here in NZ my current one Navarra DX is the first to have decent lights, the others have all been terrible compared to the Euro models I owned in England gary67 (56)

1416971 2016-04-21 21:35:00 What have you been driving Gary. I have never found a Jap car with bad lights yet!

Did you use the Lucas switch on them which is there to dim the lights so Pommie drivers feel at home. :)
