It's all because the HDD of this machine crashed and I replaced it with a new HDD, used the recovery CD to restore the system but somehow, recovery CD could not create a partition for Windows to install, maybe, my new HDD is too large for it to recognise. lol - original HDD was only 20 GB and my new HDD is 120 GB. I got no choice but to use another XP CD to perform the installation normally by using the Product Key on the bottom. That's why I have driver problem with the Wireless!

616697 2007-11-30 08:27:00 Thats a possibility! Speedy Gonzales (78)
616698 2007-11-30 08:48:00 Could it that the Wireless adaptor is faulty, that's why Windows couldn't detect its existence bk T (215)
616699 2007-11-30 16:20:00 Its either that, or its because u changed the hdd to a bigger one.

According to this site (forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com)

In the readme file in the zip file below, it says:

How to install:

1. From [Start] menu, select the [Settings], then click on the [Control Panel].

2. Double-click on [System] and choose the [Hardware] tab.

3. Click on [Device Manager].

4. Double-click on [TOSHIBA Wireless_LAN_Card].

5. Choose the [Driver] tab and click on the [Update Driver] button.

6. Click on [Next] and choose [Display a list of the known drivers...].

7. Click on [Next] and select [Network Adapters] in [Hardware types].

8. Choose the [Have Disk] button.

9. Locate the folder "{CD-drive}: Windows XP Pro\Toshiba Wireless Network Driver\{language}" and follow the instructions on the screen.

10. Finally, restart the Windows 2000.

==WARNING==
Don't copy the files that is older than the preinstalled files.

The drivers are also for XP.

This is IF you're talking about the onboard wireless, NOT IF you're using some other wireless card.

616700 2007-11-30 19:10:00 Good morning & thanks, Speedy.

The problem is, there isn't any wireless detected in the Device Manager.

I actually managed to install the wireless driver from the Restore CD and it completed the installation successfully but still, Windows could not detect the Wireless adaptor. It's a on-board wireless adaptor, not a PCMCIA which one can pull it out. There's also a sliding switch on the left hand side and I've also tried many times to push it ON and OFF but to no avail. Have also checked in the BIOS setup, nothing seems to be there.

Other than suggesting that it's faulty, is there any other suggestions that I can do to make it "visible"? Is it common for a device like this to be faulty?

616701 2007-11-30 20:13:00 It could be that the wireless card is not seated correctly.
Turn the laptop off, remove power and battery and then turn it upsidedown.
Have a look and see if there are any small covers that can be unscrewed and have a look under them to see if you can see the wireless card.
It will look similar to SO-DIMM ram modules but will have a cable or two attached for the antenna.
Remove it and reseat it and try again.

Found the card that matches your description and it is secured with 2 tiny screws. Unfortunately I haven't got such small screw driver to undo it. Probably have to buy a set.

Make sure it's not the modem you are looking at - A modem will have some sort of Telepermit sticker on it

CYBro, how do you know? lol

It IS the modem as you predicted as it has a Telepermit tick on it. Looks like you have opened one of these before!
