616273 2007-11-29 23:49:00 It's a darn good start, because I'm on 0401.

The thing that horrifies me, though, is that this did not occur to me at all, and it's the most obvious thing of all surely!

616274 2007-11-29 23:54:00 Here's the 0801 beta (dlsvr01.asus.com)

And the 0703 bios (dlsvr01.asus.com)

And AWDflash (dlsvr01.asus.com)

616275 2007-11-30 00:06:00 I'll have to burn a floppy image to CD, because the BIOS's flash utility thinks its version is newer than this one, and it's not (another common problem for this board) george12 (7)
616276 2007-11-30 00:09:00 Make a bootable USB key, if you've got one.

And copy the unzipped BIOS and AWDflash to it.

Saves a CD.

616277 2007-11-30 00:57:00 I had a CD that booted DOS and recognised my USB key, so that worked fine. Now it's less stable than ever, but I'll hold off judgement until I manually set the timings. george12 (7)
616278 2007-11-30 01:12:00 Hmmm. It tends to freeze before I even get a chance to set the timings now. Reading more it looks like the last stable BIOS is actually 0608 (as of this month)... george12 (7)
616279 2007-11-30 01:30:00 What voltages is the board running the RAM at, if all 4 slots are full, sometimes, you have to increase the voltage a little for stability.

Also, are you running T2 or T1 timings, try relaxing them if nothing else is working.

616280 2007-11-30 03:22:00 I set the timings to 5-5-5-18 and the RAM voltage to 2.09V (the second lowest setting, lowest being 1.92V).

It might be OK now that I've flashed it to 0608, the one everyone on that forum seemed to get it working on. They also recommended bumping the north bridge voltage up a notch which makes sense.

I'll try those steps this evening.

Thanks for all your help guys, you might have saved me an unnecessary RMA.

Edit: Running T2.

616281 2007-11-30 06:59:00 Well, now, if it has four sticks in it won't boot at all - it beeps continuously until I turn it off. Any combination of three works perfectly as always.

I put the RAM voltage up to 2.18V which didn't help.
