615606 2007-11-27 06:49:00 Hi
my Pentium 4 seems to run at 46-47c is this normal the fan does not run that much so figured it must be ok.

Today the fan started working excessively so I pulled the case open and removed a good handful of fluff from the fins of the heatsink.

Result fan is back to normal and I can hear myself think again, just thought I would post this to remind people about cleaning the dust occasionally.

615608 2007-11-27 06:57:00 Well fluff and dust doesnt help it . .

But 47-48 wont hurt it . It would shut the system down if it got too high .

I usually clean these out every few weeks .

If I can see a lot of dust on the heatsink, I pull it to bits .

And vacuum the heatsink, and the inside of the case .
