| 617601 | 2007-12-03 09:17:00 | i was thinking of throwing a linux distro on my acer aspire 3680 (have posted before) i have 2 live cds, one of Ubuntu 7.0.4, and one of Dreamlinux 2.2 (media or something, looks like OSX) anyway i dont know which 2 choose, Ubuntu works, as in all the drivers are found, but DreamLinux looks and functions better Ubuntu: Sound works..after right clicking icon, going to preferences and changing the track to surround (i have no idea, but it works) WinXP used the Realtek HD audio..... Cant install anything as im not really sure how, ie java and things DreamLinux has pretty much everything, sound doesnt work, wireless LAN cannot connect (atheros based card). any advice on which to use, or another distro.....all im doing is web/word processing/mp3s and the occasional dvd cheers :-) |

| 617604 | 2007-12-03 17:38:00 | Agreed also 7.10 has loads of newer drivers even a good range of USB printers and scanners.Do not fiddle too much with it tho (or with any linux if you are a newbie)7.10 will do most things out of the box and updates are pretty regular. |

| 617609 | 2007-12-04 03:07:00 | Very early in the install you should have been asked "did you want to configure yr connection" and you would have got confirmation of the connection. | kjaada (253) | ||
