616737 2007-11-30 06:01:00 Hi Like my name?

My real name was used up so I used "image variation" 6 letters

Is the current Cover DVD self booting to Ubuntu 7.1 install?
If the answer is yes, then PC world cover DVDs are faulty,
If the answer is no, then Einstain how are we suppose to install to a blank hard drive?

616739 2007-11-30 07:31:00 Wouldnt it have more than 1 file on it?

If Ubuntu is in ISO format, you'll have to copy it (the ISO), to the hdd, and you'll need a cd burner and a program that can burn ISO files.

616740 2007-11-30 07:35:00 umm yea i have made a iso disk thing... but my computer wont boot from it... i want to take off windows and put that on there.... password (5384)
616741 2007-11-30 07:36:00 The instructions included on the DVD state that you must burn the .iso file to a CD first. It needs to be burnt as an image so that it will be bootable. :)

I see that there is a ISOBurner program included on the DVD if that makes it easier.

616742 2007-11-30 07:39:00 umm yea i have made a iso disk thing... but my computer wont boot from it... i want to take off windows and put that on there....If you use Windows Explorer to view your burnt CD, it should have a selection of files/folders on it. If you can only see the one file (the .iso) then you haven't burnt it as an image.

If the CD looks OK, then you may need to set your computer BIOS to boot from a CD/DVD drive before the hard drive. Let us know if you need help with that.

Save the settings, then try and boot from the cd?
