617934 2007-12-04 18:49:00 I Just upgraded to windows vista ultimate on my laptop but just one problem, a big problem, my graphics are 640 by 800 and my color is 4 bit (lowest!) and i cant change it to anything else! my laptop is a compaq presario 2100 (amd) 512mb ram, 1800mhz cpu. I have tried going to the compaq site for drivers but there are only 3 options for my laptop, windows 2000 drivers, me drivers or xp drivers, i tried xp drivers with no luck :badpc: I Have also tried the vista ati catalyst control centre but still wont work. Any help will be great. :help: a helpless random (13059)
617935 2007-12-04 19:06:00 Your machine is not really adequate to run Vista, what was wrong with the previous operating system? PENTIUM (426)
617936 2007-12-04 19:14:00 Just Wanted the features of vista :D Not Completely needed a helpless random (13059)
617937 2007-12-04 21:38:00 Your laptop only has an AGP X4 Mobility Radeon - I don't know the exact model, but seeing it as only AGP X4 is sufficient for me to say it can't handle Vista's fancy eye candies. Not only that, it shares its video memory with the system RAM. qazwsxokmijn (102)
617938 2007-12-05 02:10:00 Ok Thanks, Just one more question, how do i (if i can) keep my files when changing back to xp? a helpless random (13059)
617939 2007-12-05 02:23:00 You cant. Well you can copy them to a cd or another hdd (files you've downloaded in their original format).

And save / back up your email addies etc.

And then reformat and reinstall XP.

You'll have to reinstall programs you've installed again.

617940 2007-12-05 02:46:00 why not partition the drive and install xp as a dual boot then you'll have the 'best' of both ? drcspy (146)

Whats the point, when you'll only get 4 bit in Vista, and a 640*800 resolution?

And there's no drivers for Vista?

You might as well use 3.11 or DOS.
