617920 2007-12-04 17:35:00 Hi,

I just bought new PC which has Vista & Quad Core. I have installed Outlook
2003. My outlook Send/Receive takes long time and then timeout.
I got three email account configured. I have setup IMAP.
I have checked in "Outgoing Server Tab" about "My outgoing server require
authentication" and "Use same setting" etc.

When I press "Send/Receive Mail" then it is taking long time. Sometime it is
getting new emails in inbox folders but doesn't finish "Send/Receive Mail" process and connection timeout at the end. Sometime without getting new emails it timeout.

I am not sure which service pack for outlook 2003 I have installed. Is it due
to not having latest service pack for Office 2003 installed?

Please help..... This is first time I have "Press F1".

Thanks,
prayami (13094)
617921 2007-12-05 04:07:00 no, there's nothing wrong. You could get the newest service pack for Office 2003
If you are using dial-up this happens all the time.
I am on dial up so this problem happens. If you have no other antivirus, I suggest you get AVG.

617922 2007-12-05 06:47:00 Hi timmy101,

Thanks for reply. I have broadband. I just bought new PC
and very first time it is doing this.

One thing I have observed is when I open outlook first
time then it gets the emails. But after that if I try to send/receive then it timeouts.

There must be something wrong,

Thanks,

617923 2007-12-05 06:56:00 Does the account / or ISP email, you added support IMAP?

Is this IMAP account your ISP email account, or something like Gmail??

Which supports IMAP?

Got any AV programs that scan emails?? Some of these can make emails time out.

617924 2007-12-05 16:50:00 Thanks Speedy Gonzales,

I got three ISP email accounts for IMAP configured in outlook. It is Verio USA.
Currently I got Windows Firewall but don't have any antivirus program.
I got JAVA Runtime Environment installed on my PC. Other than that I don't
have any thing special installed. No antivirus program.

Problem is:
Some time it scans email and sometime gone timeout even emails are not big.
If we got the header listed then,
Sometime it opens the email and sometime it seems like something holding it.
And could not open.

Question is:
If JAVA Runtime Environment can do this, then how can I come to know? And How can I solve this?

Thanks,

617925 2007-12-05 20:09:00 I don't have a Vista Mail at the moment in front of me, but open windows mail and look through the setting to see if there is anything that will disable downloading of pictures in the mail - possibly under security some place. wainuitech (129)

OOPS bad morning - thinking of to many problems at once LOL - same thing though , But in Outlook 2003. One of my Vista Premimum PC's has office / Outlook 2003 - no worries at all. The setting I was reffering to in Outlook 2003 is Tools> Option> Security Tab> BIG button in the middle of the page Picture here (www.imagef1.net.nz) Have a look through that.

617928 2007-12-07 18:19:00 Thanks guys,

The solution of "wainuitech" done most of the job. There is
one small problem left but it is not stopping me working.
It will be good to solve it.
When I open the Outlook 2003 and keep it open and
then if I go away. The screen saver starts. When I come back and then it showing the message that connection
break with my IMAP server.
Is there any experts advice please?

617929 2007-12-07 18:56:00 The screen saver starts. When I come back and then it showing the message that connection
break with my IMAP server. Do you only lose the connection to the IMAP server or does it also cut off the internet completely ?
