617854 2007-12-04 10:46:00 A few days ago I asked everyone what graphics card I should buy and out of my little list the 8600gt for like $150 was most favoured, But then I relised, Wtf am I gonna use DirectX10 for I hate Vista.

So I decided so buy a 7600GT Overclocked Edition $85 Brand New which performs around as fast (go look it up if you want) as a 8600gt with no directX10.

So now I have a
AMD Sempron Socket 939 3200+ 1.8Ghz
768MB RAM DDR333
GeForce 7600GT

I used to run Oblivion at low-medium quality with pixel shader tweaks to significantly improve performance with this computer
Intel 2.4Ghz
512MB RAM DDR266
GeforceFX 5200

So considering my computer is a bit better now and Oblivion isn't very CPU intensive (it isn't) how well do you think Oblivion will run and at what settings?

System requirements are bull**** lol. Thank you though.

Badly.
Just like it ran badly with your old card.
CPU is a secondary consideration for gaming. The graphics card is the single most important component.

DX10/Vista is only part of the 8xxx series cards. The other reason for them is better game performance.

617858 2007-12-04 20:14:00 I've played Oblivion right through with a 7600GT and it looked and ran sweet at 1280x1024 (No AA etc ).

I think your RAM will be a problem though, modern games tend to want a lot of it.
My system had an X2 4200+ and 2G dual channel low latency DDR400 RAM.

Have since upgraded the Graphics card :)

617859 2007-12-04 22:01:00 7600GT OC Is Equivilent to A standard 8600GT without DirectX10

On Tom's hardware and many other websites it wasn't until they clocked a CPU down to 1.2Ghz Oblivions frames per second in general slowed.

Also consider the fact that Sempron isn't the Celeron of AMD, It's the budget CPU of AMD and not comparable to a Celeron considering the fact Semprons destroy Celeron D's in most benchmarks.

I'll definately get more RAM. And I'll make it two sticks of 1GB DDR400 so it's equivent to 1GB DDR800 since my Mobo only supports DDR400.

Two sticks of 1GB DDR400 becomes 2GB DDR400 not 1GB DDR800. I don't think you can get any DDR ram faster than DDR400...

617861 2007-12-05 01:23:00 Unless its DDR2 ram. Speedy Gonzales (78)

They have up to DDR 600 I think.

617863 2007-12-05 01:41:00 No crap...Two 1GB sticks of DDR400 is 2GB DDR400, Which is EQUIVILENT to 1GB Of RAM At 800Mhz. (1GB DDR2) Because Speedy Gonzales knows what hes talking about.

Half The Ram 2/1 = 1
Double The Speed 400x2 = 800

1GB
800Mhz
