2007-12-04 00:29:00 | Have a few short videos for a course Ive downloaded & can watch off-line. Only took a under 10S. But I dont know how to save them. I have to keep D/L, if I have to reboot comp. When I D/L they come up on I/E pg and u just press play or stop Right click shows "About Adobe Flash Player" (Dont know how to tell how large they are either, in this format ) Course sent me copies of 2 via email attachment; as Compressed Zip file 1,112KB(folder). If u open that its a SWF file 1,111KB with a normal I/E icon. Open & it plays on Flash player, and saving was okay. But I had to D/L & save it off Webmail, couldnt D/L my email with this attachment. Though they were same videos that didnt take long via I/E. So apart frm not knowing how to save videos, confused about: Why does it only take a few seconds via I/E to D/L, but as a compressed Zip file, via Email I couldnt??. (was told latter was smaller to D/L) Xtra told they were probably too large and get then to send as smaller one. But you cant cut the video in half and save it as several files, can u??. My course couldnt Have Vista & I/E 7 & broadband. (And dont really know what a zip file is but it wrks!! Ta all Ktee

To save time, depending on how big the files are. Otherwise, if a program had like 30-40 files relating to it all over the place, (and theyre not in the 1 zip file), you would have to DL them separately, so the program could run. There are other compression formats besides Zip tho, (ie: Rar, LHA,Arc,Lzh etc). It depends on the email client program youre using (like OE, all the updates for it, can block attachments, you have to go into its options to disable the security feature. Or you cant DL attachments. There are ways / or programs that can split files. Xtra probably told u theyre too big, as most ISPS have a limit, on how big a file / attachment can be. |

2007-12-04 01:20:00 | Thanks for that about the Zip files. Now know what it means. I did successfully save those & they wrk. But is there a way to save the video files that I have D/L via I/E, not the compressed ones sent to me via email/ Each video file is single one per folder, theyre just all frm same course. Causes Ill loose them again soon as Ill have to reboot vista!!. It seems to slow down till nothing hardly works. Even though, only Word & I/E open (4tabs)

2007-12-04 01:28:00 | I think you want to convert them from flash to another playable format (ie: MPeg/MP4 etc). Which are video formats In which case, you would need something like Super (www.erightsoft.info) You install it, run it, then drag the file you want to convert to the bottom, then select the format up the top to whatever. And click encode active files on the bottom. It'll make it a bit bigger than the original file (depending on what format you convert the original file to). BUT, then in order to play the converted file, you'll have to have a program installed that can play it.

2007-12-04 01:35:00 | But is there a way to save the video files that I have D/L via I/E Can you explain a bit more what you mean with this? Are they from You tube or some similar site? If so, they will be flv files and you can save them by using something like the KeepVid site (http://keepvid . com/) where there is also a free flv player It seems to slow down till nothing hardly works . Even though, only Word & I/E open (4tabs) You could get HJT from Speedy's sig and do a scan and post the log back here, we'll see if there is anything that should'nt be there thats slowing things down

2007-12-04 02:08:00 | Um a bit confused still So as they play on flashplayer theyre flash files, & I have flash player, but I cant save as a flash file ??? . If I install "Super", how can I drag the files over to convert if theyre not saved as anything . To bevy The Videos are little clips from a polytech course . Showing how to do certain things . When u say get HJT from Speedy's sig, do u mean download "Hijack this" Not sure how to do post log back . But there shouldnt be anything Ive installed thats slowing it down, as Ive hardly installed anything . Dont download music, movies etc etc . Just use Word and I/E Its a new computer pre installed with Vista, that is **** and I/E 7 Also installed Office 2007, all work like **** Oh yes the security (Norton and M/S ) are also **** . Basically its slower and jams more than my old comp I/E 98 . Only advantages is D/Ls faster . Maybe its cause I dont know enough
