Half The Ram 2/1 = 1
Double The Speed 400x2 = 800

Perhaps you are thinking about dual channel mode?

DDR2 RAM is not the same thing as dual channel DDR400.

That is incorrect. Higher speed ram doesn't equal twice the performance.

I've tested it severals times before and every RAM test on every benchmark gets exactly the same score between the two.

Same with 1GB Of DDR 133Mhz It performs EXACTLY how 266Mhz does.

In theory what you are saying is perhaps correct. But in practical terms if you had, for example, a machine running Crysis with 2gig of DDR400, and a similar machine running 1gig of DDR800, the 2gig DDR400 machine would perform better -especially in loading times.

Windows Vista would also perform better with 2 gigs of DDR400 versus 1gig of DDR800.

I'm probably not explaining myself very well here though :)

617871 2007-12-05 09:26:00 Oblivion always was a shocking resource hog - especially in outdoor scenes and more so when there are several NPCs on screen. Very tweakable though. I ran it on an early Intel dual core (820?) and a 7900GT and had a lot of the eye candy turned off just to make it playable. Deane F (8204)

So really, Yes DDR400 2GB & DDR800 1GB speedwise USUALLY perform the same.

But DDR400 2GB can potentially perform better than DDR800 1GB since there is more available resource wise!
