617717 2007-12-04 05:10:00 My pc wouldn't play Starwars Leggo and now freezes playing the Crysis demo on a recent PCW DVD. Didn't like Bioshock either.

I've disabled Startup items but it doesn't seem to cure the problem. Any thoughts?

617719 2007-12-04 07:21:00 hm, your computer should be able to play latest games with low details however it could be the installation problem due to "Game crash" I believe you should uninstall the games and fix tyhe regs and install again. It should be able to fix the problem otherwise format your hard drive and clean install. grahic (12930)

It might be any number of reasons. Have you got the latest nvidia drivers? latest version of directx? updated your nforce4 chipset drviers? What other programs are you running in the background?

Might also be due to hardware. What rating is your PSU?

I'm sure some of the other more experienced members will be able to advise.

617722 2007-12-04 09:10:00 I updated the Nvidea driver a few months ago. We've only had this problem since then so tonight I rolled back the driver. However it made no difference - at one point in Crysis the pc died and rebooted for no obvious reason.

DirectX updated.

I have to say this is a problem for my 12 year old son, I could care less. :D

617723 2007-12-04 09:18:00 Well Crysis will be raping the PC...there is no way it will run on that hardware, lol. wratterus (105)
617724 2007-12-04 19:21:00 Crysis should run ok on that hardware. Of course it will need to be on low detail, no AA, and at a lowish resolution (1024x768 or lower).

The reboot during Crysis could have been a blue screen, but we'd need to know the error before diagnosis could be done.

The problem could be a number of things, components overheating, dodgy RAM, bad drivers.

617725 2007-12-04 22:18:00 So guys, are you essentially saying I should upgrade the video card? What with? Winston001 (3612)
617726 2007-12-05 03:56:00 Could be driver issues.

I remember on my old GeForce 5200 the newer drivers made even older games stutter and display corrupt textures.

Try Nvidia 81.98 drivers. Any driver after that used to cause such problems.

It's probably not the case but it's worth a try.
