618906 2007-12-07 23:27:00 I cannot play any PCWorld magazine disks on my DVD drive (LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-832S ).

It plays every other disk perfectly well. I have had various "experts" look at the problem but after an hour or so they shrug their shoulders and leave me to it.

Anyone else had this problem and solved it? Emails would be welcome.

Thanks,

Petmar

Had a Couple do that - I go into "My Computer", right click the DVD, select Autoplay, if that doesn't work try selecting open or Explore the locate the index.html and double click it, it then opens the start page and away you go.

618908 2007-12-08 00:52:00 I get my PC World mag from Countdown when I go shopping. It NEVER includes the CD/DVD from there. I am not that bothered as anything that might be remotely useful to me is available online. Bantu (52)
618909 2007-12-08 04:32:00 It can depend on the OS you are using. Some autoplay, and some as Wainuitech said need you to manually open them. XP usually autoplays, but my previous ME system stopped autoplaying them some time back. Grimy (3041)
618910 2007-12-08 05:44:00 @Bantu, you have to go to the desk and ask for it, they do that to cut down on shop lifting. zqwerty (97)

618913 2007-12-09 01:42:00 also why do you buy dvds from food stores?

Coz theyre there, thats why

And its the closest shop around here, that sells them.

And coz Bantu said there were no cd's on his PC mag.

Thats why I said it.

618914 2007-12-09 16:06:00 I buy mine from Woolworths because:

(a) There's always somewhere to park.

(b) It goes on the grocery bill.

618915 2007-12-09 21:13:00 Thanks Wainui and Bantu. Yes, I had already tried those suggestions but all that happens is that the machine tells me that "E:\ is not accesible. Incorrect Function." Which means, of course, that I cannot even get INTO the disk!
I am being driven barmy by this problem. Any further ideas? Is their something amiss in the settings? Or could it be a viral problem? although except for the PCWorld DVD problem, the machine in all other respects appears to be working perfectly normally.
