| 618647 | 2007-12-07 04:53:00 | Hi. I am still trying to get an old p500 laptop, win 2k, to accept a modem. Yesterday was consumed with trying to get it to work by USB as the laptop had no Ethernet card, but after hours wasted (mine and SpeedyGonzales' - Thanks mate) I gave up and bought an Ethernet card today. I have just installed that and get the same error message: "The INF or or the device information set or element does not match the specified install class". When I try to uninstall the driver ( The guy in the the shop said Win2k might not need it) I get a message saying I cant uninstall it as "the device may be required to boot up the computer". The inf... message is exactly the same one I got when trying to install the modem via USB. SpeedyGonzales very helpfully got me to delete Hkey/System/current control set/enum/pcmcia contents, and wanted me to also delete ........ enum /mf/pcmcia, but these don't exist in my registry. Does anyone have any ideas? |
