618450 2008-02-05 17:48:00 My CPU (before the upgrade) was actually an AthlonXP 2600+ - just a little slower than the minimum requirement of an AthlonXP 2800+. If you have 1 or 2GB RAM (not 512MB like I had), gameplay should be fine on low settings. Otherwise saving and loading data (i.e. checkpoints) will temporarily stall the game due to all the disk paging.

I ran mine on a Amd Athlon dual core 4000+, 1gb of ram and a GeForce 6100 and it did not run very well at low settings :annoyed:

618451 2008-02-06 04:45:00 Intel Core 2 Q6600 4G RAM with Nvidia 8800GT runs good with all detail etc very high in 64bit mode. ughnz (8297)
618452 2008-02-06 06:57:00 I scrape by on minimum requirements... performance is great as long as I don't run on settings higher than lowest

I think it would work better with a reinstall of windows and a less full (and fragmented) hard drive

But I stopped playing because the game kept getting hung up with some stupid bug on the 2nd level

618453 2008-02-06 10:23:00 Mine runs 1280x1024 everything on high, rig is:
e6600 at 3ghz
2gb ram
8800gt
raid 0 OS/Games

goes from 15FPS if i setup huge amounts of explosions on a sandbox map right up to about 50FPS just standing there looking at jungle.

But I run it as 1152x868 or wateva windowed with dual monitors so i can just mouse out to answer IMs/change music/movies/web pages etc to read when the action aint tough

Played for 3 hours the other night, just before quiting checked task manager, it was using 1.2GB physical and another GB of page file, highest memory usage I've ever seen, was quite impressed haha.

618454 2008-02-06 20:12:00 One day the game would not start and we got error message "please insert oririginal disk" . We reinstalled game and it ran well again for a while, then the same thing happened . Yes we did install the patch .

Now the game just wont start at all . But get this . . . . none of our EA games will . BATTLEFIELD 2 is the same . Even Command and Conquer which we have played for ages without a problem .

Moreover the latest PC free disk wont start either . . . . becaUSE it has an EA game on it . . yes a Crysis demo . CD drive indicates no disk has been inserted .

This is weird . . . . all other games by LucasArts, Sierra and ubisoft still play well .

The problem is confined solely to EA games!

What have we done? Why should all EA games have crashed after installing Crysis and why would the game have run so well for so long, then crash and cause problems with all EA softwARE???

As far as I know EA use SecuROM ( . wikipedia . org/wiki/SecuROM" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org) protection on their new games . As with almost all games these days, it means you have to leave the CD/DVD in the drive while playing the game .

I've not heard of any damage being caused by SecuROM, but I know some people had problems with it especially the version that came with Bioshock .

Here ( . tweakguides . com/showthread . php?t=4027" target="_blank">forums . tweakguides . com) is a link to remove SecuROM . You'll need to uninstall all of the EA games .

I doubt its the cause of the problem though . There may be some conflict with another protection system on your PC .
