618806 2007-12-07 20:34:00 D-Link 604 wireless works fine for me.

Stick with what the ISP supplies, their helpdesk will have more ability to help, and you will have only one organisation to hassle if it all goes wrong...

618807 2007-12-07 20:48:00 Nah rather buy my own modem.

At least if I get in touch with the maker, they know what theyre talking about.

And actually make sense.

When I thought this thing was playing up with Xnet, I got in touch with Dlink.

Took the info etc.. They even rang from Oz lol to answer my question.

After all of that it wasnt the modem that was the prob, it was Xnet.

618808 2007-12-07 20:51:00 D-Link works wonders for me. I mean, here I've got a 4-port wireless modem and it was free. I've had no problems and I would recommend getting one if you can get it for free. --Wolf-- (128)
618809 2007-12-07 21:01:00 Dynalink, D-Link, Cisco. Preference is Dyalink, by far.

D-Link's Customer support is amazing, as Speedy mentioned earlier.

I used to sell Dynalink back when the 14.4's and 28.8's were the modems but i had about a 40-50% rate of Dynalinks going back under warranty so I stopped selling them.

I stuck with US Robotics, Cisco Linksys, 3-Com from then on. Currently all my own stuff is Linksys, apart from a US Robotics 56k v.everything modem for faxing.

Dynalink might have improved over the years but I had too many pissed off clients to risk recommending them again.

618812 2007-12-07 21:47:00 I've always had speedy and decent replies for d-link tech support too

But while I had no problem using my d-link (it's pretty good) I keep getting dropped connections with it now that I made my line go faster...

I also have a conexant and it handles the line at the same speed the d-link does, but without the disconnections.

also tried a dynalink but last time I did it connected slower but was still stable. Have yet to try it out after the last repair to my line so perhaps it will go faster now

I have found Dynalink's ADSL modems to be a lot more reliable than the old 56k and 28.8k ones.

The real reason (I think) :p I like Dynalink so much is the user interface is so well laid out, and easy to use. I have found the speed between my Dynalink RTA1320 and D-Link 502t is marginal, and the D-Link randomly disconnects, where as the Dynalink doesn't.

618814 2007-12-08 03:05:00 What is the question?

Is it:

Which modem brand are you using?

or

Which modem brand do you recommend?

I'm using a Belkin but that's only because it was free.
I usually recommend Linksys.
