618780 2007-12-08 18:41:00 Do you think MS would go through 300m + hardware / computer configs, just to see what yours was??

I dont think so.

Nothing wrong with ringing MS up, a lot of people change mobos etc, and ring them, so XP can be activated.

Well, you'll have to ring them, or else you wont get into XP after 30 days.

It'll lock you out.

Usually it drops off, after 3 - 6 mths anyway.

From the day you activate XP.

618781 2007-12-08 19:56:00 Rang MS, spoke to India and as usual, couldn't comprehend fully (Indian English) what said, put down the phone and phoned again. This time I just key in the number from my phone keypad and the a set of confirmation numbers were given to me. Keyed in this number to my activation screen, next, and my Windows is activated! :)

Now, do I have to keep this set of confirmation number for my next reinstallation should the need arises?

Why not. No harm in keeping them.
