618631 2007-12-07 02:39:00 After reinstalling windows after one of my PCs had a hard drive crash, I am now noticing some suspicious behavior...

First of all I noticed some strange startup entries where the files are apparently "missing"

most checked out OK except for:

+ ayg2degt File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\ayg2degt.sys

which I couldn't find anywhere

I deleted that entry yesterday and now I notice 2 new ones:

+ avol8zfl File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\avol8zfl.sys
+ XDva052 File not found: C:\WINDOWS\system32\XDva052.sys

These are the rest of them, which I think are normal files, but not sure:

+ catchme File not found: C:\DOCUME~1\AARONC~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\catchme.sys
+ Changer File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\Changer.sys
+ i2omgmt File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\i2omgmt.sys
+ lbrtfdc File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\lbrtfdc.sys
+ PCIDump File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\PCIDump.sys
+ PDCOMP File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\PDCOMP.sys
+ PDFRAME File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\PDFRAME.sys
+ PDRELI File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\PDRELI.sys
+ PDRFRAME File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\PDRFRAME.sys
+ WDICA File not found: C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\WDICA.sys

I've run all sorts of anti-spyware and antivirus, offline and online scans, nothing weird seems to comes up, even on anti-rootkit and ntfs alternate data stream scans

The other problem is that iexplore.exe and sometimes firefox.exe don't exit from the task list even when the browsers are shut down, and I can't manually end process. sometimes they seem to exit after a while (maybe 10 min etc)

It all seems rather suspicious and virus-like, I could just format and re-install, but I'd rather not have to.

Anyone got any tips for trying to work out if this is a virus or not?

618632 2007-12-07 02:52:00 Run Speedy's HJT file and post it here for a diagnostic. winmacguy (3367)
618633 2007-12-07 02:53:00 Looks like some of those files belong to Onecare.

Is this or was this installed??

lbrtfdc.sys looks like it belongs to a floppy controller driver by Toshiba

And some of the others, something to do with Citrix.
Speedy Gonzales (78)
618634 2007-12-07 02:54:00 but that's what makes no sense, I never had onecare or anything to do with citrix installed

nor do I have a toshiba floppy drive controller! just the standard one that's on the Asus K8N motherboard....

618636 2007-12-07 03:06:00 I wouldnt get too carried sway with the Anti-malware software.

If they do the same thing, they may conflict. And they'll start killing each other.

You dont need so many.

These can be ticked

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\jusched.exe"

Nothing in there to do with the files you posted in the 1st post.

You may have to show system files to see IF those files are there.
Speedy Gonzales (78)
618637 2007-12-07 03:26:00 As far as I know HJT doesn't show up entries for files that cannot be found

another "missing" file appeared in the services on reboot:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\a6zrcoob.sys

Also, got a funny error from trojanremover:

Sschk.exe is not a valid win32 application (but quickscan still ran anyway)

618638 2007-12-07 03:39:00 I have a feeling Alcohol 120% has something to do with it.

Some of those files maybe files it creates.
Speedy Gonzales (78)
618639 2007-12-07 03:59:00 I doubt it though, I have the same version of alcohol on the other PC and I don't get random 'missing' sys files in services on that one Agent_24 (57)
618640 2007-12-07 04:08:00 Well disable the startup entry for Alcohol in msconfig then reboot.

Use ccleaner / registry, scan for issues first delete whatever comes up first.

Soon find out.

See if they re-appear with Alcohol off
