619218 2007-12-08 11:51:00 Does anybody know of a image or a short clip of a comparison between an integrated graphics card and a graphics card by itself.I think it is called dedicated graphics card

A dedicated graphics card

For Example ATi X800 etc..

A dedicated graphics card

For Example ATi X800 etc..You'd struggle to get any meaningful information from a comparison of one card vs one integrated because of the enormous range of card performances and types.

619221 2007-12-08 19:57:00 tom hardware had a test on intergrated gpu ages ago.

basicly intergrated is almost always the bottom spec chips. designed for basic use (not gaming!)

sometimes you can get onboard graphics thats actually a fairly topend model but they are rare.

what for? comparison for purchase between a low end dedicated and integrated or what?

as a general rule of thumb, integrated is useless.

often a google search of the the two models of interest and maybe the word "benchmark" will yield fruitful results

619223 2007-12-09 12:00:00 An $80 low end card will beat most integrated video chipsets. apsattv (7406)
619224 2007-12-10 02:24:00 Dedicated
-Dedicated and singled out (performs by itself)
-Has it's own dedicated video RAM
-Alot more powerful in comparison due to being singled out
-Cheap low end cards more powerful than most integrated

Integrated
-RAM hogging (sometimes uses system RAM)
-Very tiny and powerless due to being small and mounted
-Used to save LOTS of money

619225 2007-12-10 03:55:00 Integrated is crap! never even think about playing anything with an integrated chipset MaXimus (13013)
619226 2007-12-10 04:57:00 What used to be believed is not necessarily true with the latest motherboards.
I have just assembled a Vista Aero machine using 1 GB of integrated video [800MHz DDR2 dual channel] that knocks the socks of a machine I assembled 3 months ago that has a fairly costly PCI Express card that glitches, every now and then, on start-up.
