619952 2007-12-10 19:38:00 I did that before too (cleared the cache) , and it went back to normal.

I've changed it to 0 atm. It can stay on 0. It still works.

Good to hear it worked for u JD !

619953 2007-12-10 20:01:00 ... and you got a fragment of a page...

When it has happened to me then the content of the page usually loads - its the extras from the style sheets (fonts, layouts etc) that dip out. Thus my thoughts on it timing out before it loads fully..

619954 2007-12-10 21:08:00 I'm using the new Beta FF here at the shop and nothing weird is happening so far with it on any site I have been to.

In fact Stuff, which used to crap out in Mozilla, doesn't anymore.

619955 2007-12-11 01:28:00 I just think they can't serve pages quickly enough. Several times I click on the "more" button and have it stall on me. Pretty poor for such a major site. linw (53)
619956 2007-12-11 07:09:00 Well, whaddya know! You've done it again guys !

I tried both - renewing the screen and clearing the cache and we're up and away, just like we should be. I guess either one of those tricks might have done the job by itself. I won't know that now.

Thanks so much for the help and the simple but bright ideas. Now for the coffee!

But one thing still puzzles me - why was it just the NZ Herald site that came through that way and not the Telegraph, The Times, etc???

Have a look at the Netcraft survey of nzherald.co.nz (searchdns.netcraft.com).

Some strange goings on - looks like lots of outages/maintenance/load balancing.
