2007-12-11 22:43:00 | Go to a computer shop get 1x 1024mb stick of ram (1 gig) play BF2 and then try it with 2 x 1024mb sticks of ram (2 gig) in dual channel and it will be way better for BF2 and all other games as well. Do it all in the shop so you can see for yourself, but I can tell you now, it plays the best with 2 gig of ram or more!!!:D I have 2 x 1 gig sticks of ram and 2 x 512mb sticks of ram all ddr400 and run Dual Channel with 3 gigs of ram!!!And its great no worries!!! Helps out my old aging 939 170 Opty!! No stuttering, faster load times, faster respawns,games/programes load faster, system is more responsive and faster as well. Its all faster!!!:D Ram is cheap go to www.pricespy.co.nz and see for yourself. Its the cheapest and fastest upgrade you can do on a computer and you will have a better pc experience as well. Run out of things to say.....Just do it,that is all.:D

2007-12-12 02:43:00 | Hey could someone explain this Dual Channel thing, Is my RAM Dual Channel now? Ram running in Dual Channel is very simple. Dual meaning two, such as, 2 sticks of ram of the same size and speed, 2 x 1024mb ddr 400. Channel being the memory slots. So Dual=2 Channel=Memory Slots =2 x 1024mb ddr 400 2 sticks, same size, same speed, running in the Dual Channel slots on your motherboard, look at your manual or do a GOOGLE SEARCH, or go to your motherboard makers website and look for your motherboard on there. :2cents:

Besides, I like this forum, has better community. i agree, american/gaming forums are largely useless and full of 13 year old fanboys Hey could someone explain this Dual Channel thing, Is my RAM Dual Channel now? as i understand it, normally you read/write your ram one stick at a time - but those clever people over in silicon valley (or maybe japan) thought things would go a lot faster if you can read/write to two sticks of ram at the same time. so if your motherboard supports it and you have two identical ram sticks you can get a slight increase in performance |

2007-12-12 04:43:00 | Ahh I see, Thank you for this info, I might sell my 512MB And 256MB stick and get two 1GB's. I managed to get crysis running, all low settings except physics - medum lighting - medium post-processing - high (no performance drop for me) still looks incredible, drop as low as 10fps but only at VERY hectic spots with buildings exploding so it's quite playable, and because i'm using motion blur 10fps seems more like 15fps and 30 seems like 40 .etc.

2007-12-12 05:14:00 | Respawns = when you die in game and then have to be respawned back to life to carry on playing the game,in BF series games etc. I noticed when I had less ram it took ages to respawn and when I got 2 gigs of ram it was alot faster to come back alive. Go for 2 gigs of ram its so worth it,you will wish you did it ages ago,and it helps out so much.
