| 619172 | 2007-12-08 06:57:00 | Hi everyone, I am running Windows Vista x64 and when I turned my computer on after repairing Windows with the install DVD (because I had to do that after installing my new DVD-RW drive) the sound is now not working. I'm pretty sure the speakers and everything is plugged in but when i go to sound in control panel, the Speakers are greyed out and says "not plugged in". The next in the list, SPDIF Interface, is "working" though When I play music in WMP, the little audio bar next to SPDIF Interface in the sound control panel moves up and down, but not the speakers one. Here is a screenshot of what I mean: farm3.static.flickr.com Does anyone know what to do here, or does anyone need more details? Cheers, aonghas |

That message would appear to suggest the speakers are not plugged in or the drivers not installed, have you tried reinstalling the audio drivers ? Also try this - click on the start Orb - in the search box type in device select Device Manager from the search results and make sure the drivers are installed, or have not been disabled, or show any question marks etc on the audio. |
