619064 2007-12-08 03:48:00 Bought a used ATI Radeon 9600 graphic card, installed and it works fine other than the refresh rate of my ViewSonic VA702 has to be set at 70 Hz. If I set at 60 Hz, the text display is a little 'blur'. Is it OK to set it at 70 Hz? bk T (215)
619065 2007-12-08 04:04:00 Just checked on my sons Viewsonic, VA702B - has a FX 5200 Card (real powerful eh!) and the refresh rate is 72 - has been for ages and it appears OK wainuitech (129)
619066 2007-12-10 02:54:00 Set it to whatever works. An LCD screen itself has no refresh rate. Any given pixel is either on or off. The refresh rate is applicable to CRT monitors where your electron gun is constantly sweeping over the monitor and redrawing the picture. Refresh rate controls how often it redraws the image. Generally speaking set it as high as you can. If it is too low, and how low is too low depends on the person, you will get a really annoyingly visible flicker, like cheap flourescent lights. iwalmsley (12803)
619067 2007-12-10 03:28:00 If I remember correctly, read an article quite a while ago that if the refresh rate is set too high for LCD monitor, it may damage it! Looks like my memory is gone. bk T (215)
