620610 2007-12-12 10:33:00 I have been using an old Dos Data Base, Professional File, in XP for several years with no problems. I have now a aquired a new Computer with Dual AMD processors. When PF tries to go into full screen it says that it is an illegal command for the system.

It runs OK in a Window but only fills about 25% of the screen. I can not find a way to enlarge the Window, it will not drag.

Has anyone any suggestions to a) Make it go into full screen like it used to? & b) How to enlarge the Window?

I have made a boot CD with ME Dos on it witch runs OK but is a bit of a hassle!

620611 2007-12-12 11:41:00 Have you tried running it from within DosBox?

620615 2007-12-12 23:12:00 The Window size field is dimmed out in the screen settings/shortcut. It works fine full screen on a single processor system. mzee (3324)
620616 2007-12-12 23:22:00 I can use it by setting the screen resolution to 640x380, which is what the original would have been. It is only 1/2 a screen in depth but is full width and quite usable. Quicker than booting in Dos, exept when already shut down. mzee (3324)
620617 2007-12-13 01:47:00 Thanks Chilling Silence.
Dos Box works a treat, can set up the 'conf' file to load the program etc full screen.

620618 2008-01-16 15:01:00 In changing computers, I lost my upgraded version of my PFS:Professional File program . I have my original installation disk, which is ver 1 . 01 . It opens the sample files included on the disc, but not the ones I copied into my newer computer running XP . I must have downloaded a later version but it is lost on my ex-computer hard drive . I cannot open my old files with the original version, and assume that it is because I lack the updated program . Does anyone happen to have a version later than 1 . 01?

That was a grand old program! I exported a few of my old PFS files into Excel as comma delineated, but forgot to do some others .

Thanks,

Ken

620619 2008-01-17 03:07:00 I have Prof File Version 2.0 which I use all the time with XP. Had to use "DosBox" to get it to run on my new Dual processor machine, but perfect now. Only supports Dot Matrix & daisy wheel printers but as you can export the files it is not a problem.

Give me an address & I will email it to you as a Zip.
I can send you DosBox as well if you like but you shouldn't need it with a standard processor.
