2007-12-11 23:46:00 | I have Ashampoo Burning studio installed on my computer. I put a 4 x DVD-RW in the drive and ashampoo complains that it is not a blue ray dvd. It will not write to the disk or delete. All it offers to do is open the drawer. How do I make my disk "blue ray". Or do I have to go out and buy more disks? Would someone please tell me EXACTLY what I ask for?

2007-12-11 23:51:00 | You cant make a normal dvd burner blue ray. Its a completely different burner. Info (en.wikipedia.org) They hold 25-50 GB. Compared to a normal burner's 4.7 or 8-9 GB. So, if u want Blue ray you'll have to buy the burner as well as the blanks. It sounds like u selected the wrong burning option in that program.

2007-12-11 23:57:00 | Blue - Ray :xmouth: here explains it (www.blu-ray.com) A DVD writer wont burn Blue Rays, you need a DEEP Pocket to run one of those around $1000.00 Serious look here (www.ascent.co.nz) and the Discs - well if you can afford the writer then the disc price wouldn't matter :D Might be the DVD-RW is faulty if Ashampoo thinks its Blue -Ray Note For Reference: Ashampoo detects what ever the Disc is ( meant to be) As shown Here (www.imagef1.net.nz) I'd say the DVD-RW is faulty. Ashampoo will work on Blue Ray, as Far as I know - Never tested it - to damn expensive :groan:

2007-12-12 00:35:00 | Looks like I goofed again. I tried three disks and got same result with each. Ashampoo is now uninstalled. Thanks for the info.

2007-12-12 00:44:00 | No You Didn't goof - Ashampoo Will Detect what type of Disk is loaded, there is no settings to tell it to what to detect, Eg: Blue Ray / DVD/CD. I have seen lots of DVD-RW's give false reading - or fail. Try a DVD-R and I think You'll find its fine. RW = Rubbish - seen so many failures it not funny.

2007-12-12 03:00:00 | you didnt read again... I think we were both talking hardware (RW cd'd being crap) AND software (Ashampoo detects what ever the Disc is) I dont think there is a "config of ashampoo you proberly have it seton blueray disk you should be able to change this to dvd or cdr"

2007-12-12 03:17:00 | LOL - So theres no confusion - Hardware - Blue Ray Disks need A Blue Ray Optical Drive = $$$$$$ If you can afford The optical drive the price of the disks wont be a worry. Ashampoo does not have any setting that you can set to tell it to write any type of disk in particular, it will automatically detect what ever the disk is and change to suit. DVD-RW are Rubbish - Failure rate is high - only good for coasters and christmas deco's if you hang them in the window of your house, they sparkle nice in the sunlight :) The DVD-RW disks are more than likely the problem - I have a 5 pack of DVD-RW's here I was given that think they are DVD+R's - they wont write to with any Writing program, yet a real DVD-R works perfectly.
