620426 2007-12-11 22:33:00 Reinstalled OS (XP) to this old PIII computer, installation process was smooth without any problem. XP detected and installed all the hardware/drivers. :)

When I shut down the computer from START > Turn Off Computer > Turn Off, Windows shuts down, Monitor turns Off ; but the computer fan still spins. I have to either press the Power button from the computer to turn it Off completely or switch Off from the wall power outlet. Checked BIOS's APM is Enabled.

Why is it so?

620427 2007-12-11 22:43:00 Check in the Control Panel under Power Options, there may be a box that needs to be ticked that says something like "Use Advanced Power Management" CYaBro (73)
620428 2007-12-11 22:52:00 Yep - that'll be the one
There's a tab called APM - in it an "Enable Advanced Power Management Support" check box
