| 620373 | 2007-12-11 20:30:00 | The automatic update in Acrobat Reader 8 is annoying. Anyone knows how to turn it off? Under Edit > Preferences > found nothing to turn this feature ON/Off | bk T (215) | ||
| 620374 | 2007-12-11 20:44:00 | When all else fails click Help in the menu bar / read the manual :D (Like I did) Change updating preferences Choose Help > Check For Updates.(it runs through and checks first) In the Adobe Updater dialog box, click Preferences. Select Automatically Check For Adobe Updates, and specify whether you want automatic checking on a weekly or monthly basis and whether or not you want to be asked before updates are downloaded. Make sure that the application you are running (Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat) is selected as the software that will be updated. If appropriate, click Browse to navigate to the location in which you want the downloads to be placed. |

That is shocking . That method is not disabling the automatic updates at all, it is just altering the frequency . They have no business trying to force users to update if they don't want to . Is it not possible to untick the option in msconfig to not check for updates? |

Well mine and the wifes has not auto checked for over 2 months, I disabled it around that time, simply unticking the options As shown Here (www.imagef1.net.nz) and I use PDF files several times a day every day, the wifes about 3-4 times a week and its not reverting back to default settings. - I dunno why others are (unless the options have not been unticked) I also have foxit Pro - mainly for editing PDF files. |
