620302	2007-12-11 18:35:00	Hi guys, I know this is a noob question but this is my first build and I don't want to screw anything up. I have a Gigabyte p35-ds3r and a core 2 duo e6750 with a Siltverstone ST50F 500W PSU. The motherboard has a 2x12 power connector and a 2x2 12V power connector. My PSU came with the 2x12 connector but it has a 2x4 connector for 12V. My question is this, do I need to plug in a 2x2 connector as well as the 2x12 connector or will just the 2x12 connector be ok. 620305	2007-12-11 19:46:00	No, it definitely does not split in two. I can get one half partially in but it is blocked by a motherboard component so it won't go right in and make contact. I could try either somehow cutting the connector in half or possible a 2x2 12V extension cable might work. What do you think?	Mark Gribble (13074)
620306	2007-12-11 20:19:00	Ahh sorry, I didn't read the question properly. :blush: The 2*4 +12v connector should split in half. Be firm with it. :lol: If not, cut it, make sure not to expose any metal, if you do, wrap some insulating tape or something around it. You could get an extension cable, can't say I've seen one recently though, and I think you'd run into the same problem getting it connected. (You'd still have to cut the 2*4 in half) You're not getting it confused with the 2*3 PCI connectors? ;)	wratterus (105)
620307	2007-12-11 21:01:00	No, it's a 2x4 12V connector, I think newer PC's use it for extra power if you're running cards in crossfire/SLI. I have managed to find a 2x4 to 2x2 adapter at my local PC store so hopefully that will do the trick.	Mark Gribble (13074)
