620642 2007-12-12 21:51:00 I just got a set of Logitech x-540 5.1 speakers.

My problem is, the rear speakers sound pretty terrible! Tinny and... blah.

The front ones are good though.

Is this because they just... are, or because I set them up wrong somehow?

Plus, is there a good way to get music to play out all of the speakers? Mine just plays like a normal 2.1

620643 2007-12-12 21:58:00 Go into your audio Settings and check / change it to 5.1 , that could be why the rear speakers sound rubbish if its set to 2.1 wainuitech (129)

620646 2007-12-12 22:29:00 If the soundcard came with its own program (when you installed the drivers, some do), configure that. Speedy Gonzales (78)
620647 2007-12-12 22:50:00 The rear speakers themselves SHOULD sound identical to the front ones, as all the speakers are the same.
Are you using integrated sound or a discrete (eg: creative) sound card?
If using integrated sound. and it doesn't have its own settings program, see ig you can download one from the mobo manufacturer.
If you have a dedicated sound card, have a look at the software that came with it.

620648 2007-12-12 23:23:00 I have an ASUS pk5r using th onboard sound. Have latest drivers for it etc...

Perhaps the problem is that there is no sub at the back? I'll have to turn off the sub and see if the speakers sound identical

620649 2007-12-12 23:56:00 I may have found your problem ??? - Make sure you read the Manual, esp making sure its setup as in page 2 as shown Here From Manual (www.imagef1.net.nz) - If it's all correct then look at page 4 of the manual as shown Here from Manual (www.imagef1.net.nz) - I've Highlighted where the problem may be. You may be getting some sound through, but its not set right - hence rubbish sound - Only a guess wainuitech (129)

620651 2007-12-13 00:11:00 With Matrix on in music, the speakers sound tinny enough that I can actually notice the rear ones.

Maybe i'll unplug everything and start again. Maybe ill stick my sub at the back.

Meh, work should finish faster
