| 621642 | 2007-12-16 02:28:00 | hello i was wondering if someone could help me. i have just taken a hard drive out of a windows 98 computer and have connected it to mine.how do i read the hardrive on my windows xp computer so i can get the files off the hard drive? Please help |

| 621643 | 2007-12-16 02:29:00 | Did u jumper it to slave?? If there was already a hdd in/on your computer? You cant copy programs to yours if theyre already installed on the 98 hdd, you'll have to reinstall them |

| 621645 | 2007-12-16 02:40:00 | Well, if the ide cable and power is connected, Windows should see it Check the BIOS see if that detects it on primary/secondary slave, whatever its on, and the post screen. |

| 621646 | 2007-12-16 02:53:00 | If you have the Primary/Slave bit set up correctly or have it as master on its own IDE channel it should show up. Slave to your main HDD if on the same IDE channel, or Master if it is on the secondary IDE chan on its own. In XP also Right Click My Computer and choose Manage, Choose Disk Management. IF you have it plugged in correctly and it is working it will show up here at least. It then should show up in either My Computer as another drive letter or in Windows Explorer. |

| 621648 | 2007-12-16 03:08:00 | If you go into "my Computer" it should be showing up as another drive there. If its not go into the control panel>Admin Tools> computer Management>Disk Management(under Storage) the 98 drive should show there, if it does, right click it, select "explore" and locate the files you want to transfer. |
