621471 2007-12-15 20:34:00 Thanks cho.I did have VLC but uninstalled it.Didn't like it changing all my icons to traffic cones! Might have to go back to it. Neil McC (178)
621472 2007-12-15 21:02:00 you can manually change your Icons once you have installed it to anything you like so not really a problem gary67 (56)
621473 2007-12-15 21:08:00 VLC is one of those good as programs you don't need to install.

It's not very clear but if you download and extract the 7-Zip archived version from the download page (www.videolan.org) (second section), you just place the VLC media player folder where ever (like Program Files). Right-click+drag the vlc.exe icon to the Desktop and select "Create Shortcuts Here". Done.

621475 2007-12-15 23:29:00 You can always use Portable-VLC or Portable-MPlayer from portableapps.com -- The advantages of VLC and MPlayer without the installation ;) Chilling_Silence (9)

Yeah, I had a "portable apps!!!" phase a couple of years ago. I've settled on a good set for my USB stick (nz.neopages.org) which always come in handy.

621477 2007-12-16 00:13:00 Winamp is also a good one that can play these, although apparantly they've added advertising recently - I haven't looked at it since the 5.0.x days, so I can't comment on that.

And yes, VLC is brilliant - it can play just about anything .
