621220 2007-12-14 18:53:00 Hey Guys.

Well the story goes ...

"The other night i recieved a free Creative Sound Blaster Live! Value card (CT4830) and i installed it. It worked fine. Played a bit of Counterstrike on it. It was working wonderfully. So then the next day i decided to play some more, and all of a sudden i get an error: hl.exe- Application Error, The memory could not be "read" {With these numbers in there as well} 0X0b67101fc 0X0b6b4704."

Okay, so i have narrowed the problem to a conflict between "sound" and my gfx card.

My Gfx card is a ATI 9600Pro.

So i have tried disabling all sound on my system, and that seems to make Counterstrike work fine, But no sound.

I have tried onboard sound, but that makes it crash with the same error i got with the sound blaster card.

I have also used Catalyst Software Ver. 7.6 {Read it on a forums somewhere}
But that woo with sound makes it crash.

So can you guys please help me here.

621221 2007-12-14 19:08:00 And how exactly did u figure out there was a conflict, just by seeing that application error crash?

That doesnt even belong to the Soundcard or videocard.

It looks like it belongs to half life

Does anything show a X or ! in device manager?

Under that Soundcard and the videocard?

When it crashed using the onboard sound, did u take the Soundblaster out??

And when u disabled the onboard sound, did u install the drivers for the Soundblaster?

I cannot get both of them to run together, in the hl.exe application.
(Sorry if i didnt describe it properly)

I know, but it crashes on that application.

621223 2007-12-15 04:14:00 Have a read of this (forums.csnation.net)

It MAYBE a virtual memory prob.

Or it maybe a steam update bug.
