622379 2007-12-19 06:01:00 (this is the first time I have done the chat room thing, so most interesting).
DeSade - I had a slightly different root than you suggested (user, user, AppData, local, virtual store, program file) but under programmes there was no MYOB Cashbook to delete (only abode, microsoft works, mozilla etc).
I will contact the MYOB helpdesk for a patch to see if this helps.

Wratterus - I worked thru your suggestion but the virtual store setting was already set at 1024MB (which I didn't change).
Thanks

622380 2007-12-19 07:26:00 Try disabling the User Access Control

Run msconfig

Go to the Tools tab and launch Disable UAC. (Could be 'Turn off User Access Control or similar - Haven't got a vista machine in front of me to check :D)
Restart the Machine and try install again.
Don't forget to run msconfig again and enable UAC!

622381 2007-12-19 19:27:00 The root is trial and error, its not easy to pin down.
It is in there somewhere heh, but you do need the patch if your using the 2007 disc.

622382 2007-12-20 03:27:00 Got the latest version of MYOB Cashbook 7.1 directly from MYOB, disabled virus and microsoft firewall but couldn't load the programme (unpacks but then stops - the same as before).
Looked thru the root directories that could be relevant but can't find any MYOB/Cashbook references.
Am I back to a dodgy install shield on this new Vista machine? All the other programmes were loaded with no problems
Thanks

622383 2007-12-20 18:57:00 Does anyone know the repair file to use for Vista for the install shield?
I have looked at "tinyurl.com\accpy" but this is for XP.
Has anyone tried using the "Registry Clean" or "Resitry Smart" type of online products? I asked a store in ChCh but they said they can cause more problems than they fix, therfore don't use. I ran the preporgramme of RegistrySamrt and there are 288 errors but some of these will be minor.
Thanks

622384 2007-12-20 19:52:00 accpy is the only one I have found, I have been looking for a Vista version but no go (incidentally that URL is mine :)

With it unpacking and stopping its possibly a CAB error, there have been a few of those even with the disabling.

I would suggest you request a copy on CD and the version your after is
663/664 so:-

2007.3.663 or 2007.3.664 (there is no difference in these two)

622385 2007-12-21 05:54:00 The .zip version that was sent to me by email by MYOB Support was MYOB Cashbook 2007-1-363 (according to the subject line). I tried to find out if this is the exact version number using properties but I couldn't find it listed anyway, so I'll presume it is the version 2007-1-363. (It was generated in May 2007).
This obviously isn't the version -663 or -664.
Thanks

622386 2007-12-21 20:58:00 Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh my memory has kicked in. My old machine at work did the same thing. We use a heap of different versions of MYOB, and there 2 particular versions that did this - cashbook was one of them. I can't remember if my solution worked for cashbook or not, but it got the other one going. Boot into safe mode and try the install. wotz (335)
