621864 2007-12-16 20:51:00 I have two computers networked and able to connect to the internet. Computer A is downloading emails as normal (the setup has emails left on the server for 5 days) while computer B stopped downloading on Saturday morning. In B if I press send/receive the send/receive dialog box flashes on screen too quick to read. O/S XP Professional. Outlook 2003 Standard. Thanks for any help David DavidW (532)
621865 2007-12-16 21:49:00 Try sending a Mail to yourself from computer B (the one that apepars to be giving trouble) See if it leaves and then returns OK.
If it doesn't you will get an error message, post back the whole message.

621866 2007-12-16 21:54:00 Tried that but the message is just sitting in the outbox and can't be sent. DavidW (532)
621867 2007-12-16 22:01:00 Further to that. If I go into email accounts and send a test message in the pop3 setup it gets sent and picked up by A !! DavidW (532)
621868 2007-12-16 22:03:00 Further to that. If I go into email accounts and send a test message in the pop3 setup it gets sent and picked up by A !!
If Computer A is open ( outlook) then Computer B wont pick it up, 1 account 2 Computers using the same account spells trouble.

Make sure Computers A's Email is closed and see what happens.

621869 2007-12-16 22:08:00 Outlook has been working OK for many years with the current setup. By leaving the emails on the server for 5 days they are still there to download when I start up A or B DavidW (532)
621870 2007-12-16 23:54:00 Outlook has been working OK for many years with the current setup. By leaving the emails on the server for 5 days they are still there to download when I start up A or B Thats fine if every thing is working - now something is not, so to find out what, you need to go back to the basics.
If Computer A is sending and recieving Mail OK , yet B is giving problems you need to Take A out of the picture so to speak.

We know B will send, ( test message) so now we need to find out if it will recieve with out A being Open. If it wont recieve then there will be an error message. Thats what we need to know.

Having both open wont fix any problem - close A's email and resend a message to your self from B - See what happens and what error messages appear.

PS: who is your ISP

621871 2007-12-17 10:51:00 Computer A is closed and B is the only one running. The message I tried to send to myself is still sitting in the outbox and when I click on send/receive the send /receive dialog box just flashes on screen too fast to read. There is no error message. ISP is ihug. DavidW (532)
621872 2007-12-17 20:55:00 Thanks Wainui. Solved the problem by using the installation disk to repair Office. Should have done that first. David DavidW (532)
