2007-12-20 23:47:00 | I get application not found error when clicking on links in windows mail. This I could probably work around by copying and pasting the URL but IE7 will not open when I click on visit site, Microsoft Office online links in programs but with Paintshop Pro there is a message No browser found. I have set IE7 as the default browser. Any ideas about how I can this problem? When I checked the set associations page there are about 100 extensions with unknown applications. Is that normal? :help:

2007-12-21 03:06:00 | Is it only the Microsoft office Online site thats causing a problem , or are other sites located in a Email also doing this. Some of the security may be causing a problem. Try this it may or may not have any effect: In IE, click Tools>Internet Options>Advanced> Restore advanced settings >then Reset Web Settings. This will put IE 7 back to the "Factory default setting" It will reset the Home page as well, but you can soon put it back to what ever you want / had before. See if any of your links work. As a test click on This Link Here (office.microsoft.com) its the Microsoft Office Online home page, see if it opens from within this forum. If it does then it may be your Email thats causing the problem. Process of elimation.

2007-12-21 05:57:00 | The link online worked before I reset IE7. After resetting, Email links still say application not found and I still can't use the link to web sites in the help menu of applications. Any other suggestions would be appreciated! | GaryW (10329) | |

2007-12-21 06:22:00 | Since its windows mail you are using, its got to be Vista. Some of the Help links dont work on certain programs like they do in XP. Did the link I put in post above open the MS office site ? ( from this forum)

2007-12-22 09:36:00 | yes the link you put here worked fine. It just seems to be links that are on my computer. Hmmmm Okay - if the link from here works then its certainly the Windows Mail causing the problem - this is from Microsoft If Windows Mail determines that a message might be a phishing e‑mail, it blocks access to all links in that message. If you're certain that the message is legitimate and you want to enable links in the message, open the message, and then, on the Information bar, click Unblock to enable links in the message. Knowing MS it wouldn't surprise me that they suspect their own pages as "problems" hell every one else does :D. I'll keep looking to see if any thing else pops up as well. Updated: Also found This Forum (www.vistax64.com), last post Number 4 may be of some help.

2007-12-23 03:37:00 | I have found out the problem started when I uninstalled the Maxthon Browser. I think that these links were set to open with this browser and that is why I am getting this error. But I have set IE7 as the default browser now and it still does not work. | GaryW (10329) | |
2007-12-23 05:16:00 | Maxthon is mainly a skin for IE - well it was a few years ago any way. It sounds like when you uninstalled it, even though you set IE as the Default browser, certain Aspects have not "come across". Going by your original poast When I checked the set associations page there are about 100 extensions with unknown applications. Is that normal? No its not normal for a Hundred, a few maybe but not that many, mines got 53 (I counted). Go back into the control Panel> Default Programs> Set Associations - right down near the bottom ( Protocols) should be the main ones you want, check they are set to the right file. Attached Here in this Pic (www.imagef1.net.nz) is mine set to default ( you may not have Itunes) you only need the ones relating to the internet. If they are not like the Pic, select the ones concerned and up the top right of the page is a button, that says "Change program" click that and change it to IE. You can also scroll through the LONG list of extensions listed above the protocols - look for htm & html - make sure they also say "Internet Explorer". Looking through the extensions I have the following using IE. .gif - .htm - .html - .mfp - .mht - .mhtml - .url - .xml -.xrm-ms - .xsl
