622745 2007-12-19 02:18:00 I have 3 HDD's and linux OS's on 2 of them and would like to try Fedora on the 3rd one. When I booted the install disk I said I wanted Fedora to boot from the HDD my
MBR is on.I then got the query, which put me off going any further,ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT FEDORA TO BOOT FROM A DIFFERENT DISK THAN THE SYSTEM IS ON ?
As it seemed like a major I backed off.
Is it OK or not and will Ferdoras install recognise my other OS's

622746 2007-12-19 03:07:00 You run the risk of Fedora wiping out your other boot loader. Unless things have changed in last few releases, Fedora was not that generous in auto-detecting and sharing bootloaders with other Linux distros.

I would install Fedora with no bootloader (ie no GRUB) and then modify your current boot loader to include booting up the Fedora partition.

622747 2007-12-19 03:41:00 Thanks once again Jen.
It is about what I thought might happen but hoped Fedora would be a bit more
"with it" than that.
Hope you have a great Christmas

622748 2007-12-19 10:52:00 Finding a motherboard with boot loader built in is good for booting across disks. You could theoretically have an mbr on each disk. They don't really advertise the fact that the mobo's have the feature its more like a cameo "oh wow, I can do this!" lol... hamstar (4)
622749 2007-12-19 17:14:00 That would be a great feature for some of us "buffs".How do I find out tho kjaada (253)
