622565 2007-12-18 22:23:00 Hey Guys.
I recently bought a second hand Acer travelmate 230 laptop.

I have charged it.
And when i went to turn it on, the power light does not come on, nothing appears on the screen.
But i can hear the fans going inside it.
The CD drive works.

But apart from that it doesnt seem to work.

Please help me here.
Thanks
Cameron

622566 2007-12-18 22:24:00 So, you brought something, 2nd hand, that was dead?

Did you look at it, to see if it was working, before u brought it?

622568 2007-12-18 22:33:00 So does it work with power??

Did you try it on battery and power? Or just battery??

Might need another battery.

622570 2007-12-18 22:38:00 Well Cameron the prognosis doesn’t look good from where I sit .

However, we can but try .

Do you have a monitor you can plug in the back just to see if you can see anything on it?

And, don’t get caught like I did with a touchpad that had been turned off with the Function Key . (I’m still getting over that, scarred for life)

Make sure the “Function key” has not set the Video to External Monitor .

Have tried an external moniter. Doesnt work ...

Even if the touchpad has been turned off, shouldnt the power light come on anyway.

622574 2007-12-18 23:04:00 Don’t worry about the reference to me getting caught by the Function key turning off the touchpad. That was just an aside about a problem where I got caught out.

So, what lights do we have, if any?

As far as I can see all we have is a fan running and the CD draw opens and closes but nothing else.

Is that correct?
