624330 2007-12-24 11:13:00 Hi All!

I have an old computer which has three hard disks. I would like to carry software management on this computer as I find identical data files existing on all three hard disks. Is there a software that I can use that can help me find duplicate files and give me an option of deletion also?

Thank you all for your time.

Rgds

Thats the only reason, why all 3 hdds would have identical files on them.

Wishing you a Belated Happy Christmas.
I am sorry I was not able to frame my querry properly.
I have a computer with 3 HDD (Different capacities) No RAID
I find that many identical files (mostly word & excell) exist on more than one hard disk these have been saved over the time under different folders. I was looking for a utility that can help me find files over these three hard disks which have identical names and than give me an option of deletion. I cannot do a global search because these files are a few hundred in nos and the job would be very laborious.

Rgds,

624335 2008-01-01 08:10:00 Had a similar problem in the past and found the following helpfull. No additional software required.

Drag all files and folders onto the same drive. When box pops up to say "confirm file replace" check the dates and save or not save. Delete remaining copy. Done

624336 2008-01-01 08:17:00 Have you considered writing a macro yourself in VB to do this?
You need to build a list of the identical file names, but also check file sizes and last saved dates. Do you always want to keep the latest version? Would be safer to do a manual inspection once you have list of identical files - provided the list isn't too large (ie dozens, not hundreds).

1) It's holidays time
2) NZ is a small country
3) 143 views doesn't equate to 143 people knowing the solution
4) You may just be a spammer looking to increase searches for your software solution

624339 2008-01-01 09:50:00 Hi Greg,

Sorry man if I hurt your sents. This reply is to assuage that feeling if it invariably caused you any hurt. No offence was meant.

By the way I am still looking for a solution. As for dragging all the data on to one hard disk as suggested by our friend I guess that will not work because of different folders and sub folders.
