623661 2007-12-22 21:35:00 Just as the subject said there is a problem when I tried to follow the directions, I removed (uninstalled) the videocard that's no longer being used and everytime I rebooted, the "find new hardware wizard" appears (which the writer of that article forgot to mention about)

I believe this is a Hauupauge video card and the operating system is windows XP.

How do you disable the "find new hardware wizard" or is that section bogus?

623662 2007-12-22 21:45:00 You may not have adequately uninstalled the old card.

It may help if you go into device manager in Safe Mode, double check that the old drivers have been uninstalled. Then uninstall the software for your new card. Shut down. Remove the card physically. Reboot. Shut down, refit the new card, start up again then installl the card's software drivers.

Remember to take appropriate electrical safely and anti-static precautions.

Let us know how you get on or have more questions.

623663 2007-12-22 21:50:00 There is no way to remove the function? This is a TV card that's not being used and I want the "auto hardware wizard" to hush on this card only. Or is that not possible?

623664 2007-12-22 21:55:00 Hmm. I didn't perfectly understand your question. I expect someone else may be able to assist better. Greg (193)
623665 2007-12-22 23:17:00 Well, if youre not using it, remove it.

Or disable its entry, in device manager.

623666 2007-12-23 06:57:00 if hardware that is in the PC is not installed, then it will try to every time ya boot. as above, if you are not using it anymore there is no need for it to be in the computer, as it will just use power. not much, but its a waste. Cho (12330)
