| 623499 | 2007-12-22 01:16:00 | On my network i have 3 computers (all XP home). 2 are on a different work group too mine. From mine i need to access one of the other computers, and sometimes shut it down. I am trying to use a remote program to do it, however when ever i try to 'explore' the computer, or shut it down, it requires a user name and password. When i try too go into one from explorer, it comes up with a box, the user name is already filled in as the computer name, but the password is not. As far as i am aware i have never set any passwords. I do not have to log onto my computer with a password, i simply click my user name and i am on. Is there a default password, or otherwise when would i have set one? I can't remember doing it. | Furno (13201) | ||

| 623501 | 2007-12-22 01:23:00 | Welcome to PressF1 Furno - there are plenty of shutdown utilities availabe if you search google, but Here are A few (www.snapfiles.com) you can try. Its advisable to have the PC's all within the same workgroup as well, saves a lot of hassles. Its asking for administrator passwords /rights because what you are trying to do is control it from another location. There is a built in Administrator account that you normally dont see. My XP Pro did the same thing as your XP HM when trying to access it remotely from another location - I never had a password, I had to create a password for my account, then when accessing it after entering the details it went fine. You may need to password your log in name. |

| 623502 | 2007-12-22 01:26:00 | XP Home doesnt support remote desktop if this is what youre trying to do. However there is a host or client version available from the MS download site. WHAT program are u u using now?? You could use Crossloop, but someone would have to be at the other end to accept it. |
