1422038 2016-06-16 03:55:00 Ok you techos - thought should install W10 but got this message:
"The display is not compatible with W10. Check with the manufacturer for support"
Checked the display driver and it says that the best driver is already installed.
Had a dig round online but no real joy!
Any suggestions?
Many thanks

1422039 2016-06-16 04:52:00 Doing a Acer Desktop exact same message :) Normally you just upgrade Via a DVD or USB drive ( not the W10 downloaded automatically) if the drivers dont pick up then you can usually use W8.1 or sometimes W7 Drivers.

Edited: have a look at these, they say they support your card ? www.techspot.com

Pays to do a complete back up first, Image ( doing that right now) just incase it all turns pear shaped.

Also doing a graphic card install - XP ( fun fun fun) heap of ****. they dont want to upgrade the computer :D

1422040 2016-06-16 05:56:00 HD7700 will definitely work sweet. I've got several Win10 installs running on HD4000 series cards.

support.amd.com

That driver is the one you'll want to put on after the install.

1422041 2016-06-16 12:43:00 I have found that drivers that have a setup.exe in them are often very specific about the OS supported. If you use the device manager to update the driver, just point it to the folder which contains the new driver, more often than not it will install. I had the same problem with my old Dell Vostro which is not supported by W10. mzee (3324)

Thanks for this link but as said MS won't let me download W10 until I sort out the driver.
So will I stuff up anything if I download it now - before try and install W10?!
Thanks

1422043 2016-06-16 22:09:00 Anybody can download windows 10 and create an installation disk or flash drive using the media creation tool regardless of what PC you are using. Get it here www.microsoft.com Use the button that says download tool now, save or run the file it links to, and if you see the option to download for another PC choose that.

Once you've created the boot media you can use it to do a clean install with your old key or an upgrade to your existing windows. That's what Wainui mentioned in post#2

This is the better way to do it, create a DVD & upgrade from that . Disconnect from internet & dont choose the option to download updates as part of the install process . Update afterwards .
You may need to uninstall AV first .

""The display is not compatible with W10 . Check with the manufacturer for support"
If you still have issues, uninstall the vid card software/drv & remove the card, re-install after 10 is working . . . . . .
or disable the onboard (motherboard) video & uninstall that driver : perhaps thats the one the upgrade doesnt like (seems unlikely)

1422046 2016-06-18 02:41:00 Try this -- go to www.amd.com Along the top, select Drivers + Support, the middle list shows W10 drivers

1422047 2016-06-18 03:06:00 Have you tried following Dugimodos suggestions in post #6. A couple of others have also suggested that you try that method for the very good reason that it works. CliveM (6007)
