| 1421674 | 2016-06-10 00:37:00 | Disassembled my dead monitor and found some bulging capacitors and they are: Su'scon 470 uF 35V x 3 pcs Su'scon 1000 uF 16V x2 pcs Can I replace them with these from Jaycar : 470 uF 35V (www.jaycar.co.nz) 100 uF 16V (www.jaycar.co.nz) Or, there are better place to get better quality ones? Electronics experts, please advise. Thanks. |

Electronics experts, please advise. Thanks. They should be fine. I presume you mean 1000mfd, and not 100mfd? In a monitor where they might be filtering a switch mode supply, I would go for the largest physically that will fit in the space. |

Try Farnel , Element14, radio spares . You want low ESR The jaycar one will probably work just fine , but you asked :) |

| 1421678 | 2016-06-10 01:46:00 | As long as they match the specs and have the same or higher voltage rating they'll be fine. As to where to get better quality ones , maybe RS has something. Here's an example of their stock nz.rs-online.com which is probably similar to the Jaycar one or this which claims twice the lifespan nz.rs-online.com I haven't got any first hand knowledge of capacitor brands though, I usually just grab whatever I can find with the right ratings. |

| 1421680 | 2016-06-11 21:02:00 | All bulging caps have failed, but not all failed caps bulge. Replace the lot, if you can, especially if they're all the same brand as the ones that have already died. Well - except the primary filter capacitor since they don't see the same high-frequency ripple that the output ones do. You are best looking up the datasheet for the original ones (they will have a series marked on them, either 2 or 3 letters usually) and making sure the ripple-current rating is the same or higher, and that the ESR is the same or lower (but not too much lower) Not all Low-ESR capacitors are the same! They vary greatly, some are much lower ESR than others. Photos would greatly help if you want more specific advice. |

| 1421683 | 2016-06-12 08:11:00 | What do you want to test? If it displays a normal image as it did before and does not do anything weird (like turn off randomly) then it's OK. (Though I would be suspicious of any other capacitors you did not replace) |
