1418444 2016-04-01 19:41:00 Pretty much everything else been changed on the car now...............Well no wonder it's still running - I mean essentially it ain't exactly the car it once was! (probably the next thing to fail will be the odometer!) Greg (193)
1418445 2016-04-01 21:52:00 One of our school Toyotas, a 2000 Hi Ace has done nearly 400,000K. Never had anything done to the engine (very quiet running and doesn't burn any oil)

Had the clutch done for the first time at 350,000, Disc pads and new rotors at 360,000 ( first time since I started looking after maintenance when it had done 180,000) Nothing else other than servicing in its life.

Been a pretty cheap bus to run and still nicer to drive than than the new shape 2008 Hi Acevan. I wont mention the diesel Econovan, noisy thing that it is.

I remember when I used to be in the trade we had a customer who used to tow a trailer to Wairoa and back to Napier behind a Commer van. The trailer was filled with band gear with the boys in the Commer. After each gig the played up there we had to replace the disk pads. He bought a braked trailed and that helped a bit but didn't solve all the problems. It seems technology has improved since then. Someone may enlighten me as to the reasons as it is over 40 years since I got out of working on cars. :)

I traded in my 2008 Corolla on a new Suzuki Vitara a month ago. What a delight to drive. First time in 25 years there hasn't been a Toyota in my garage.

Ken. :)

1418446 2016-04-01 23:11:00 Trusty Toyota they are... I service my mother's and step father's 1998 and 99 Hiace;s which they use for selling goods at market. For over 15 years, they never missed a beat, the engines, without any oil consmption. This NZ Hilux (m.nzherald.co.nz) done over a million miles... kahawai chaser (3545)

Well our ute did about 650,000....didn't have that odometer changed either.

Anyway he can afford to get another car in around a years time, so it only has to last till then.

He says he's looking forward to helping put the GB in...I said he's mad, he said his mechanic buddy said the same thing. LOL.
