| 1417743 | 2016-03-18 05:15:00 | www.stuff.co.nz Very sad thing to happen and my sympathy goes to the family. That said, why should a city council have to pay a govt. dept. in this or any similar happening. Who pays the legal cost, expensive experts appearance fees and then finally the fine, which could be up to $250,000? Us muggins tax/ratepayers of course. :( Are these outfits stupid, or what? (what a daft question) Ken |

| 1417744 | 2016-03-18 06:35:00 | This part I agree with: Very sad thing to happen and my sympathy goes to the family. But as to who to put the blame on -- Come on -- it was a wild tiger in captivity, doesn't matter if it were born in a zoo and never been in the wild its part of their nature - Wild animals attack, and mostly to kill, not just because they can. Its a job she had chosen - work with wild animals - take the risk. carrying out routine duties inside the animal's enclosure. Every zoo I've ever been to if the keepers are in the enclosures then the animals are in their pens /cages - obviously this wasn't the case, so why did she get into a situation where she was unsafe ? No Ones fault but her own. |

| 1417746 | 2016-03-18 08:30:00 | WT, I am not questioning or blaming anything or anyone to do with the sad event. Just the stupidity of a govt department taking legal action against the city council when the only result is one lot of taxpayers paying a different tax gathering outfit. It would be different it Work safe were prosecuting a private company instead of a council outfit. Ken |

Who stuffed up? Her for not checking first? A colleague, not having locked it up? In the end it was a mistake, Suing them is pointless. |

And by the way, Judge Louis Bidois is a well-known local Maori, although I guess that is a dead giveaway given his name. |

| 1417749 | 2016-03-18 23:37:00 | Yes, It is very sad that she was killed. But it was not the zoos fault. She or someone else did not check that the tiger was locked up. One silly mistake. Don't go round suing everyone and costing us all small fortune. I did not hear her husband saying it was the zoos fault when it first happened. There have been two other work deaths this week. At Mt Mauganui Port and at a Rubbish dump. Very sad. |
