| 1418033 | 2016-03-25 03:28:00 | I suspect we lost the vote thanks to the damn RSA codgers who voted with the misguided pseudo patriotism that the flag represented who they fought for. ( Aww... C'mon Greg, the RSA's are closing like wildfire as the last of the few shuffle off the mortal coil. There are precious few old soldiers left, and their votes wouldn't have any significant impact. The common man, and youth, have spoken, JK crashed with his landing gear still up, and the whole fiasco has been a gross waste of money that would have been better spent on education, child poverty, care of the elderly (including old Digs), and the time better spent working on projects that had some worth to society. The man is a shallow twerp, when he speaks, he says nothing and when he debates, he mocks. Next time he is on TV, close your eyes and just listen, then try to write down the key policy points he has made. I wish you good luck. Cheers Billy 8-{) BTW, Mrs T and I had a fabulous week of relaxation at an Eastern bay in the far North, got back home this afternoon, and tomorrow we are off to the Tauranga Jazz Festival to listen to Billy Jnr and his band. |

The estimated cost is $25.7m over two years. Most of the cost in is holding two postal referendums ($17.3m) and public consultation ($6.7m). To have a process which is seen as legitimate, and for the outcome to endure, it is important to do it properly. Our current flag has served us for over a century, and it is possible that a new flag would serve us for another century or longer. Totally agree with your previous post, there's quite a few people who liked the other flag, Red on top instead of black. |

I hated the black on it.It wasn't terrible just because of the black; in my opinion the red version looked better, but given our sporting fraternity which we identify the colour black with, I'd still like to have seen either of Lockwood's designs win. |

| 1418041 | 2016-03-25 22:14:00 | Hey, we agreed on something :) Don't let it happen again LOL :p Both SWMBO and I liked the Flag with the Red, but not the Black, so that's why we voted to keep the Original. Then again, we also thought about all the people who went to wars and died or served their country under that flag - respect. Quite a few people I've spoken to said the same sort of thing, BUT maybe on the day to vote which one, they either didn't vote that way or vote at all. |

| 1418042 | 2016-03-25 22:16:00 | My kids said they voted to keep the flag because it what was something Key wanted. Also me saying they could not live in my house anymore if they voted for a change might have been a factor. | prefect (6291) | ||
